How to apply for an Employment Pass 
 

The process of applying for an Employment Pass in Singapore demands a meticulous and serious approach. Prospective workers and their employers (or appointed Employment Agent / Employment Agency)  must diligently compile and submit the requisite supporting documents through either MyMOM Portal (Formerly EP Online).

The application undergoes a rigorous evaluation based on stringent eligibility criteria, determining the approval or rejection of the Employment Pass. Upon approval, candidates are issued a pass card, granting them the privilege to work and reside in Singapore. The Employment Pass services centre assumes a critical role in guiding applicants and ensuring strict compliance with regulations set forth by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower. 

Requirements of the pass (Eligibility)

Applicants, intending to enter Singapore to work for a local company, must demonstrate a fixed monthly salary that aligns with eligibility requirements.

From 1 September 2023, the following EP qualifying salary requirements apply to new applications and renewals:
 

  • At least $5,000 for all sectors except financial services (increases progressively with age from age 23, up to $10,500 at age 45 and above)

  • At least $5,500 for the financial services sector (increases progressively with age from age 23, up to $11,500 at age 45 and above)
     

The EP application, whether submitted online or manually, undergoes a meticulous evaluation to ensure compliance with Singapore's regulatory work pass framework.

An EP Application be be processed once the applications passed the COMPASS framework assessment and minimum salary requirements.

From 1 September 2023, Singapore will use an assessment framework known as COMPASS to assess new EP applicants. Businesses applying for an EP for an employee need to demonstrate they have considered all applicants fairly, according to Fair Consideration Framework guidelines.

What to Do once your Employment Pass
in Singapore is approved?

A In-Princple Approval (IPA Letter) will be generated  and both the pass holder and Employer should have their individual copies. Instructions will be provided in the IPA.

Documents Required to Apply and Obtain an Employment Pass

  1. Application Form: Complete the official EP application form provided by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

  2. Copy of Passport: Provide a copy of the applicant's passport, with at least six months' validity.

  3. Educational Certificates: Submit copies of verified educational certificates and transcripts relevant to the job.

  4. Employment Contract: Include a signed employment contract between the applicant and the Singaporean company.

  5. Description of Duties: Furnish a detailed job title description and responsibilities of the applicant's role.

  6. Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV): Submit a comprehensive CV outlining the applicant's professional experience.

  7. Applicant's Qualifications: Copies of any professional certifications or qualifications relevant to the job.

  8. Medical Examination Report: Undergo a medical examination and provide the medical examination report.

  9. MOM's In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter: If applicable, include a copy of the MOM's In-Principle Approval letter.

  10. Address and Contact Number: Tenancy should be settled once arrived in Singapore and a local number should be acquired

Prepare for arrival in Singapore

Once the Employment Pass (EP) application is approved, an In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter will be generated. Employer should send the Pass Holder a copy. With that, the Pass Holder will be allowed ease of entry into Singapore, subjected to country of origin's Visa regulations. 


Medical checks, tenancy / address and a local number should be secured with ease as the IPA is already issued. 

Get the pass issued

 Once the EP is formally issued, it will grant the individual permission to both reside and work in Singapore.   1. Dependent Pass (DP):

    • EP holders can apply for a Dependent Pass for their immediate family members, including spouses and unmarried children under 21 years old.
